New dual monitors Wasps

I’ve gotten a few comments back on the attic door and it seems a lot of people want to know about insulation. My plan was to build the door thick enough and solid enough were I didn’t really need to mess with it. I’m not against putting some foam insulation on the back it’s just that I don’t have any right now.

Today the temp was about 30 degrees so I grabbed my infrared temp gun and went to go see exactly how cold the door was.

So the temp is basically 10 degrees colder than the door and maybe a little more down towards where there is only weatherstripping. Like I said I don’t really feel like it’s actionable at this point but if I ever trip across any foam I might just throw it on. For me the project was mainly about stopping the breeze and condensation build up on the old plastic seal.

  1. I have a practically full sheet of R-30 pink foam board left from my kegerator project. Of course getting to you is another issue. But if you use that type, don’t use spray glue on it.

  2. lol trust me I won’t be forgetting that story anytime soon.

  3. Yeah I need to re-do the door. It seemed to get worse over the next few days after I posted that. You can see the pits and holes where it ate through. The only thing holding it on now is the aluminum tape I used around the edges. Fridge is holding it’s temp though so far.
