I feel like wet dog crap.
There is just to much work to do to be this sick. I can only hope that this doesn’t turn into bronchitis. Usually I get hella sick around this time of year w/ that crap.
Whatever. I can deal with that, but what I want to know is what the fuck is up with the pool of sweat I woke up in? I mean dude….it was like I took a t-shirt right out of the washing machine and put it on. Nasty…
- This was on slashdot earlier, but I saw it yesterday and just haven’t posted it yet. City Manager of Tuttle, OK threatens the CentOS guys w/ the FBI. Wow….

I’d post more, but seriously I need to go lay back down….

Lucky me...

So it seems I was lucky enough to get home just in time to enjoy a little souvineer I brought back. A cold.
God this sucks…
What also sucks is I beat F.E.A.R last night Damn that went by quickly, I mean it might just be me but it seems that it went by to fast. The game was hella good, but damn…
I tried playing some multiplayer online, but I pretty much ended up being cannon fodder. I think it’s been to long for me to be any good anymore.
Moving on, Nick sent me this link last week while I was in training complaining of being bored. I haven’t had time to watch it until now…It’s called ““. No matter what you think, it’s very interesting. I highly recommend finding the hour and a half to watch it.
Now for something a little lighter:
- Spinners go high tech. Ya know, I remember reading about something like this a while ago on the make website…I think originally it was for burning man or something like that.
- I don’t remember these Izuzu commercials at all from the 80′s, but if they are real they are very impressive.
- A flying motorcyle. Oh yes please….once they clean up the apperance of course.

Worlds coolest, completely useless, pen

Mar 252006

So last week before I left for Oakland, CA, Jen and I were over at a friends house. And she showed us the new “cool gift” in the PR world. It’s a pen called the acrobat, and basically it’s just a really cheap pen with a cool design….but for some reason the damn thing is the talk of the town.
So after that, while I was out in San Ramon my team lead was talking about this cool pen she just got for going to some meeting. And sure as hell it was the same damn thing. So I snapped a few pics of it:

And of course here is a video of how it opens. Seems silly maybe, but until you see it you can’t appreciate why it’s cool.
Now moving onto things that are actually useful…I finally got a wireless mouse from a vendor, that’ I’ve been trying to snag for like a year now. It’s really tiny and cool

I’ll have to put it with my other vendor schwag….I love free stuff

As seen on TV

Travling almost always ends up with some dead time, so like everyone else I end up watching TV.
Now I haven’t really watched infomercials for a while, so I’m out of the loop on some of the newer gimmicks. Of course there are old faithfuls still out there like the crazy old juicer guy, or that $400 stupid ladder, or even that christie brinkly/chuck norris ab board slider thingy.
The reason I bring this all up is of course because I saw something I have to share. Easy Crown Molding.

…wow.
I mean, I get it. I’ve done crown molding…it’s not exactly easy. But it’s also not that hard if you have some skill. But wow….stick on crown molding.

And they wanted $9.95 for 24 hours of access to this festering pile of shit? Damn good thing I’m not paying for it or I’d really pissed.

It’s six o’clock in the morning here in the lovely pacific time zone, and the sun has charred the other side of the world and returned back to us. As I sit here enjoying my lovely gourmet hotel coffee prepared in a nine dollar sunbeam coffee maker I can only hope for the aspirin to engage their mysterious benefits.

I am constantly reminded as to why I usually hate to travel, and it’s not the slight case of agoraphobia, but rather I believe it’s from a dislike of flight and the fact that most local cuisine (aside from my own) turns my lower intestine into a . The most ironic thing to me still is that the trip to Denver we took a few months back for Jen’s B-day/proposal didn’t bother me at all. I even did all the driving in a Lincoln Towncar and it didn’t faze me that much. Perhaps it’s a mental thing, but honestly I think it’s truly a reflection of the quality of a travel companion and my faith in them.
Not that I’m traveling with bad people per say, but I know what skills Jen has, and honestly I just can’t see anyone else being better. However I have learned that some people should not be trusted with rental car priviledges, but that’s something I won’t get into on here.
On positive notes, I do enjoy actually putting faces to a lot of the people I work with every day (via email) and getting to interface with them directly, if only for a few days. Once thing I do miss about working in my old department in Arlington Heights was that almost everyone was in that office. Having a team spread out across the US really creates an unusual team dynamic. Some people aren’t like others, and don’t live to check their email, or chat via icq. That’s why it’s nice when you can just go track that person down physically. But that’s an ideal situation, and certainly I’m not saying we should relocate everyone into one location or anything like that.
Other positive things:
- Hotel has free beer from 5:30 to 7pm (miller light and warsteiner)
- Got a really cool wireless mouse from the vendor (finally…grrr)
- Enjoy the chance to be sarcastic and mocking to my team members in person As one of them said “it’s so much better when you can see his face”
Well, I really need to start getting ready for my free continental breakfast (although food….not so high on my priority list right now) and my desperate attempt to get to class on time today.

On the road again

Uncategorized 2 Responses »
Mar 202006

I don’t really travel well.
Today I spent 4 hours in a metal tube hurtling towards the rising sun, sitting next to what I can only imagine is the single broadest shouldered man in the united states. And of course he was an encroach-er. Which means as the flight went on he only got closer and closer as his fat ham like arms slowly swallowed up the armrest, like a greedy troll eating a newborn baby. And on top of that he “leaned”.
Let me explain something. If your in the middle seat you have limited window privileges. Take off and landing, you are allowed to stare directly out them. Any other time is simply limited to a quick glance to ensure the wing is still attached. Starting out the window at any other time is rude, and leaning forward so you can insert your head into my territorial bubble so you can get a better look at the clouds is just damn right ignorant. If your close enough to give me head then perhaps your just a little to damn close.
And take a fucking mint, would that kill you? I think i’m going to have to burn this shirt when I get home cause the smell just ain’t going anywhere.
So here I sit in a hotel room, 2110 miles from where I want to be. Bored out of my mind and….well mostly just bored.
god i’m bored.
