Back in 2004, shortly after we moved in, it became clear there was a leak in the upstairs master bathroom. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it but it completely evaded everything I tried. So out of desperation and frustration I decided to just remodel the whole damn master bathroom as you can see here. While I finished that project up last year there was a side effect from it. Due to where the plumbing was located and water damage the ceiling in the downstairs half bath had to be entirely removed (water and drain lines for clawfoot tub plus I moved the shower drain). So for probably about 6 years there was no ceiling in the half bath which while tacky actually made running wires easier from the attic to the basement for Uverse.

Anyways after I finished the master bath 100% I could finally put the ceiling up and mud it. I did that probably two winters ago but didn’t actually get around to making big progress until two days before Tabitha’s birthday (toilet kept flooding due to it just being an old piece of junk). So over the course of two days I gutted and replaced everything in the room. I thought it would take less time but sometimes working in a small room is harder than a big one due to hitting walls and stuff. Replaced the in wall toilet paper holder with an external one but other than that and adding an OJ cabinet (over the john) it was pretty much a one to one swap. Had to move the light to center it over the new mirror. Oh and speaking of mirrors….the mirrors in this house apparently were put up by the evilest people in existence.

I guess gluing them to the wall is a thing? I don’t know I’d think it makes them kind of impossible to remove but that’s how they did it. It took me like a solid hour of using a saw to cut through enough glue (while Jen held a hair dryer to it) to get it off in one piece.

So here is the bathroom back in 2004 when we moved in:

So starting from there we have some deconstruction pics I took as I was going:

After that it is pretty much just slapping in the new stuff. All it was pretty much off the shelf stuff from Home Depot:

Oh and on a side note I take prep work waaaaay to seriously:
