Do not fear the puppies of.....purgatory

Oh so many evenings in middle school were spent watching Kids in the Hall….nobody ever gets it when I say ” do not fear the puppies of purgatory”, but now you can see what I mean.

The pit of ultimate darkness, full of demons….polite demons who would hold a door open for a woman carring to many parcels, but demons none the less!
- Speaking of ultimate evil, check out the cats on this page (click on cats and kittens in the menu) that Jessamine showed me.
- Speaking of Jessamine, look at these pictures of panda babies on her page. It’s like somebody put that “keep your eyes open” thing on me from Clockwork Orange and then did a Carebear Stare in my face. Lord knows what kind of radiation’s in that damn stare, I’ll probably get happy face shaped tumors or something.
- That whole “Hold your wee for Wii” radio thing is reaching a head now (Thanks to Jen for the link). Family’s suing the radio station, and the transcripts pretty much damn them, especially considering that people were calling in on air saying it was dangerous. A lesser segment of this that I find interesting is that I bet those kids of her will never…NEVER be able to play a Nintendo Wii ever in their life. That’s kinda f’d up right there.

Well I managed to finish Call of Duty 2 saturday….lasted me exactly one week. Went and sold it back to Gamestop and picked up a copy of Halo 2….thankfully since I have the hard drive I can play xbox games.
Now, I played Halo on the PC…specifically on the TV that we owned at the time. And I have to say that I was blown away literally at the game play, graphics, quick loading….everything, the whole package. I’ve honestly probably played it lke 3 times just for fun.
Now I played it on the PC, with all settings maxed out (1280×1024). So now I’m playing is on the xbox 360 with a resolution of 480p (720×480). It really doesn’t look any different to me, in fact if anything it looks a little less stellar than halo did on the pc. Which leads me to the question…..why the hell is did Microsoft refuse to release it for XP, and decided to wait for Vista instead?
I’ve now played the game a bit, there was no reason to wait this long. It’s obvious they are only doing it to pimp Vista and for no real reason. So….I can either play it on the Xbox 360, or I can go out and spend probably close to $300 bucks to upgrade my video card and ram to run vista adequately?
Let me sum all that up with a picture:

That being said, I was able to get a lot of gaming time in this weekend. Neither Jen nor I felt top shelf this weekend, at least she has the excuse of her 3rd trimester, where as mine is just my body being weird I’m sure. I’ll tell you what though, I’m happy as hell to have these damn stitches out of me. I finally saw the bill they submitted to my insurance and daymn…..even after everything I own about $200 bucks per mole they removed. That almost hurts more than having them taken out.

Crackdown demo

I was able to grab the Crackdown demo off XBL yesterday. I think Jen and I both agree it looks fun, but whats up with the bogus 30 minute timer after you reach level 2 prowess on everything. I mean I get it, but it’s kinda weak. Funny note, I’m still coasting on my free Gold membership to XBL, so I was able to get it instead of next week when the silver membership gets a crack at it.
And I kinda think that’s total bullshit. This whole membership thing really turns me off. Microsoft can kiss my ass if they think i’m gonna pop for a membership just so I can get a demo a week early. God I hate micro transactions.
At least the demo is not as weak as the Saint’s Row demo. I just could not get into that thing at all. Thankfully there’s Blue Dragon coming out soon, with what could possibly be the best RPG on the 360 so far (not a hard record to beat honestly). But I tell you seeing that game coming makes me real glad I’ve got a 360. I mean it has the artwork of Dragon Quest 8 and the guy who made Final Fantasy…can you get a better pedigree than that?
Back onto current events, Call of Duty 2 is in our Xbox 360, Final Fantasy III is in my DS (thanks Donna) and Kingdom Hearts 2 is in our PS2 (wtf is skateboarding in this game, you can take your stupid mini missions and shove them up your ass Squaresoft) with Final Fantasy 12 just waiting to get in there after I finish up leveling in Kingdom Hearts (thanks Heather and Micheal).

Did you know they make square bagels now?
I’ve been eating them for a little while and man they make great sandwiches. Stupid stuff sometimes can really make your day.

Tales of Phantasia

So I’ve been playing Tales of Phantasia for about the last year on and off.
Yesterday I finally beat it.
Now the reason I played it was because of Tales of Symphonia, on the Game cube, was probably one of the best RPG’s I’ve ever played. In fact I liked it so much that I played it again after we beat it (supports 2 players). After that experience I thought that the “tales of” franchise might be something of a safe bet.
Good lord was I wrong. Overall Tales of Phantasia was a decent game, but when compared to Tales of Symphonia it was a festering pile of shit. The English localisation of it is probably mostly to blame, I don’t know what room full of monkeys they paid to do this, but they reused almost 60% of the location names from Symphonia. It made me feel like somebody took the Symphonia game, mixed it with 50% larks vomit, and then resold it as new.
And storyline/translation issues aside, the battle engine was a joke. I understand this is a port of a game released on the SNES and PS1, but for the love of god couldn’t you guys fix it so the battle doesn’t enter super slow motion every time it ends. There’s no excuse for that in the current generation of hardware.
Uncompelling story line, confusing gameplay, and a battle engine so dated I felt like I was on drugs. Way to go guys. Brilliant work here.

I question whether or not I really needed 12 stitches on my back…hell I had that many after I put my arm through a window, and there was a lot more blood for that one.
So we spent a lot of time this weeking looking at baby stuff, we got a really great deal on a Travel system from Graco just by luck. But by far the most amount of time was spent looking for a bedroom set for the kid.
This is what we found when we walked into Baby Depot (which is crazy…it’s shoved in the back of Burlington Coat factory like a red headed stepchild, but has really cool stuff).

It was the first set we both saw and were like…that’s damn cool. Incredibly expensive but cool.
- From the why didn’t I think of it…a UPS with a built in flash light.
- I knew holding it in was bad, but I had no idea to much Wii could kill you. Honestly though, the whole thing sucks.
- I will not be sleeping easily tonight….Plane part falls though roof mere feet away from woman’s bed…in Chicago. F**k the bogeyman, this shit’s real.
- Bored? Have $300k lying around? You to can make your own PS3 fort…cause that’s how many of them are just lying around in stores. I’m sure Sony will sell them eventually, but man did they F this one up.
