I’ve been thinking lately that I sit to much. So I bought a treadmill off craigslist and built a desk onto it out of scrap wood. I had to add a second monitor shelf but it wasn’t that hard to add it. The whole desk pops off and the treadmill folds up to save space.
Look what I made...a walking desk
Yay new Regina Spektor!
Basement Office V2.0: Now with more shanty!
Ok so in preparation for Tabitha’s birth I had to move my office from the upstairs into the basement. The move was supposed to only be temporary but two years later I figured it was time to spruce up the “tomb” a little bit. Try as I might I don’t seem to be able to escape computers and basements but at least I own the one I’m in now instead of my mother.
So this was my original office setup:
I’ve added some bias lighting over the years and upgraded the monitors (thanks Jen) but the concrete was still drab and grey. I was originally going to paint it but then if I took the office down it would look stupid. So I decided to get some wood and cheap white panels and just go crazy, so here is the result of a three day binge:
Also in the upper left you can catch a hint of what I did with the window. Instead of just blocking it with cardboard I put privacy film on it so I get some natural light slash indication of daytime. Also the bias lighting on my main rig is closer to 6500k (daylight) and the CFL is a special full spectrum daylight CFL.
None of it is perfect but keep in mind I’ve done all this for under $150…probably closer to $130 after I return some stuff I didn’t use honestly.
