Ford Escape Driverside door wasn't built to take abuse...

I’m sure there was a good reason why but it escapes me right now as to the reason why the driver side door was closed with such vehemency…perhaps there was a swarm of blood hungry deadly african bee’s or a rabid St. Bernard but the end result is really all that matters….it would no longer roll down all the way.
Oh it would go down a few inches sure but then it would grind to a halt swiftly…which is actually a good sign as it means there’s a physical problem and not one involving an expensive motor or switch. So I ended up taking it apart in the driveway to see if I could fix it myself.
Taking apart a car door is pretty simple really I used to do it all the time to install new speakers or what not. All you do is find the screws and pop it with a screwdriver around it’s edges (or in my case use a ). Once I got it off I had a pretty good idea that the problem had something to do with the giant styrofoam blocks behind the plastic lining.

Once I pulled back the plastic liner using sheer brute force I was able to see what the problem was….seems like there is a styrofoam block between. Turns out there are two foam blocks, one on each side of the window, and the outer one had popped off it’s clip. All I really had to do was unscrew the two 10mm bolts below and then push it in back onto the bar it was grasping. As you can see in the first and second picture it had hopped out into the travel path and the last picture shows it in it’s proper place safe and secure.

Such an easy little problem…to be honest I was a little surprised at how quickly it was fixed. Of course I’m surprised at how easily it was broken. I don’t think the design was thoroughly tested to be honest.

Even our clocks have clocks on them....

Here is something I don’t understand…
Just about everything it seems has a clock on it. Our car stereos, cell phones, televisions, coffee makers, stoves, and even our microwaves. So having just recently replaced most of the major appliances in our kitchen I’m curious about one thing.
Why is it I have to set the clock on any major appliance at all?
Seriously, I spent more on these appliances than I did on my first two cars combined. So why is it I can chuck on down to Menard’s and pick me up one of them fancy o-tom-ick (atomic) clocks that set themselves automatically and even compensate for DST and they can’t integrate this functionality into a major appliance????
Seriously….LG, Maytag, Kenmore…whatever listen to what I have to say. Pay whoever designs your equipment five cents more to add in the functionality to synchronize with the frequency that supplies the time. There is no reason I should have a microwave and stove that both have a clock and are two feet apart that are both a minute apart. My microwave does not exist in a parallel dimension to my stove. This is a no brainer people….

uh oh

I recommend that you do not leave your Jabra bt500 bluetooth headset in your pants pocket and wash them. Although I have to say at least now it is very very clean and smells like lemons.
