Ok got my numbers crunched yesterday, so let’s see what we can get done today!
Tile project: day two
Dont drink and drive
What if historical events had facebook?
Windows 7 starter and netbooks
Still trying out this video blog thing for some topics, started my own youtube channel to hopefully keep them all together. Below I talk about what I found when doing netbook research and the limitations of windows 7 starter.
Charging devices with your Uverse DVR's USB ports
While the ports on the front of our DVR seem to be mostly disabled software wise it seems that they put out at least usb 1.0 power. Below you can see two different creative MP3 players charging and a motorola bluetooth headset.
Tried charging my iphone on it but it just caused the DVR to reboot. I suspect that has more to do with apple’s proprietary charging circuit than anything else really.
Schluter system 2: electric boogaloo
Ikea Samtid light: Salvador Dali version.
We’ve had this Ikea Samtid light for a while now and have been using it with CFL bulbs mostly….so I was a little surprised when I looked at it last night and noticed that had pretty much collapsed onto the bulb along the back seam.
Now we also have a newer version we purchased a few years back and you can tell they’ve re-engineered it a bit because it doesn’t show any sign of sagging. Anyways today’s kludge is me taking a length of clear pvc water tubing (from the furnace humidifier) and taping it along the top.
Doesn’t look to bad if you don’t know it’s there….
Amelia's two year pictures
Jen took Amelia to get her 2 year pictures a few months back and I just wanted to share.
working on the shower
Been working on the bathroom in my spare time and finally got the shower tray cut and the curbing all mocked up.
Here’s the shower area…you can see I added an additional layer of subfloor:
And here is the schluter kerdi shower tray and curbing….the kerdi membrane goes over it all “wrapping” it like a christmas gift almost.
If you look at the ladies leg ledge you’ll probably notice it’s wood. I was all set to purchase an aluminum “better bench” and had even made a mock up of it out of cardboard when it occured to me. Why the hell pay $40 bucks for a 17″x12″x12″x2″ piece of aluminum when I can just go buy an outdoor board for 7 bucks? The beauty of the kerdi system is that it’s water proof and a vapor barrier so I don’t even have to worry about rotting….hell it’s better than a mortar based anything when it comes to moisture.
Anyways next step is to mix up a bag of unmodified thinset and then get to work!
